MachineGames and Arkane Studios Lyon today released Update 1.0.7 for Wolfenstein: Youngblood, bringing with it the new Treasure Hunt mission, new maps, new abilities, new enemy types, new Pep Signals and more. We’ve got something a little different for you today that isn’t news related. Today, Bethesda supplied us with an interview that was recently conducted with Henrik Håkansson, Animation Director at MachineGames. This interview offers wonderful insights into the most memorable moments during the capture of Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Q: Motion capture in games, how does it work and how was this used in Wolfenstein: Youngblood? Motion capture is, “the movement of an actor or stunt person transferred to a digital character”. For Wolfenstein: Youngblood, we had the actors wear a full body motion capture suit. We attached reflective markers to each joint and the mocap cameras recorded the movement of the actor. The face animations were recorded with a head mounted camera. We then transferred the movements to the game character. The mocap process is very complex so I will describe the steps on a high level. Wolfenstein: Youngblood’s Latest Patches Bringing Community’s Most Desired Fixes
Just four weeks ago, Jess and Soph Blazkowicz burst onto the Nazi slaying scene in Wolfenstein: Youngblood, a brand-new, co-op focused game in the long-running Wolfenstein series. Last week, MachineGames and Arkane Studios Lyon released patch 1.0.4 to PC, bringing the ability to pause gameplay in offline mode, among other changes. Full patch notes are available here. Patch 1.0.4 releases today for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and will be available on Switch as a combined patch with Patch 1.0.5 in the coming weeks. The game’s next update, Patch 1.0.5, will introduce an even larger number of player-requested features. Chief among those updates is the addition of checkpoints to Towers and end bosses, adding a toggle to remove enemy health bars for a more classic Wolfenstein experience, and allowing players to adjust the amount of sisterly banter. The ruthless, Nazi-slaying blood of Blazkowicz runs through BJ’s twin daughters, Jess and Soph, as they search for their legendary father in Paris in the launch trailer for Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch this Friday, July 26, Wolfenstein: Youngblood offers players some of the series’ most dynamic, open-ended Nazi killin’ to date and for the first time – cooperative play. Players still have a chance to pre-order the Wolfenstein: Youngblood Deluxe Edition to receive the Cyborg Skin Pack.
