Restore old sports facilities and give them a new lease on life in Sports: Renovations, a relaxing, story-driven simulator. Goat Gamez and Dear Villagers have left no stone unturned in providing a relaxing yet challenging experience for our grubby hands, with smooth gameplay, crisp graphics, and a good-vibes soundtrack.
Once home to a top-tier basketball team, your hometown basketball court is now covered in cobwebs, dust and trash in every corner. To prevent your arena from being turned into a super shopping mall, it is up to you to raise funds by completing various jobs for other dilapidated sporting venues and transforming your once-glorious hometown court. Sports: Renovations is a superb story-driven simulator full of banging tunes and relaxing cleaning fun.
Raise funds by collecting trash, scrubbing floors, painting walls and re-decorating various rundown sporting venues to gather much-needed funds for your hometown basketball court. Standard movement keys and the odd tab or alt here and there to switch your tools create an easy learning experience to immerse yourself in the soothing world of Sports: Renovations.
Much like other cleaning simulators, you have various tools at your disposal, such as a power washer, sponge, paintbrush, and broom, to name a few, which, of course, can be upgraded to better gear as you progress through the game. Each room, once unlocked, has perks and odd side quests here and there to keep you cleaning for hours on end, with additional objective furniture you can purchase to add your touch to the room.
Having the ability to place furniture at your discretion is an excellent addition of creativity to the game that further aids in the experience. I enjoyed this as it kept me engaged instead of just cleaning the room and being done with it. However, a few times when using the power washer or paint brush, it simply wouldn’t work, even after furiously spamming my mouse to use the tool. Only after moving around and finding the “sweet spot” would this work, and I could continue cleaning. This ultimately didn’t subtract from the overall experience, but it sometimes got frustrating.
I was surprised to find the graphics quite simple, but that’s not necessarily bad, as a game of this type doesn’t need overwhelming graphics to captivate you in the experience.
Before cleaning the venue, you’ll notice dirt, grime, and various bits of trash around the place, providing a feeling of rundown or dilapidated, but once spruced up a bit, Sports: Renovations brings out the vomits of bright colours to truly show off the fantastic work you’ve done to bring new life to the old sporting location.
The upbeat soundtrack propelled my experience to the next level, with a fun-sounding soundtrack and superb sounds from scrubbing the walls or the horn when beating my PB record at throwing trash in the bin from the three-point line. Sports: Renovations has provided a neat little experience with all the right additions.
Sports: Renovations is a decent simulator with smooth graphics, bright colours, a fun soundtrack and a simple plot. Apart from the minor bugs here and there, I had a fun time playing, and it was a good break from today’s usual fast-paced games. While Sports: Renovations isn’t groundbreaking, it keeps it simple and to the point, which I thoroughly enjoyed, much like other simulator games we all know and love, but with the addition of little things here and there, it keeps you engaged for hours on end.
